Lock the fleet spec early
Six fields, fixed at unit one, stop a fleet turning into four different fleets.

A fleet is not a quantity of laptops. It is one configuration repeated, and the value of the repetition is that imaging, spares and support only ever have to handle one case.
That value leaks away quietly. A model line refreshed mid-order, a panel swapped for an equivalent, a keyboard layout that varies by shipping region: each is individually sensible and together they turn one supported build into four.
The specification worth fixing is narrower than people expect. Model line and variant, the CPU, memory and storage tier, the display panel, the keyboard layout, and the warranty term. Fix those six and the fleet stays one fleet.
Spares are the second decision. Holding a few identical units back from the batch is far easier than sourcing a match a year later, when the line has moved on and the nearest available machine is a different configuration wearing the same name.
Put those six fields and your spares intention in the requirement itself. It turns a price for a number of laptops into a quote for a fleet.
